The Larkin Coaching Story
Mike is a Dave Ramsey Certified Coach who has a heart for helping people succeed in their financial, career, personal and spiritual lives. Both Mike and Mari are Certified Crown Money Map Coaches (since 1996) and have helped hundreds of people in their church and community become better stewards with God’s resources. They have a unique, fun and easy way to communicate finances with others, making the process a rather exciting one. “Couples usually come to our office looking for help with their money, but leave having their relationship greatly improved and are able to communicate about money without the tension they used to have,” says the “Let’s Talk Money” Couple™. “We won’t give up on you through this process, and whatever is important to you, is important to us. We desire to see relationships blossom and for couples to get on the same page as a team should.”
Mike and Mari started out their married life in debt, which became worse as they accumulated car loans, personal loans, a mortgage, and credit card debt. Whenever money issues came up it always caused tension in their relationship and usually ended up in an argument. In 1991, a friend gave them a Quicken Spreadsheet to track their spending and expenses, which started giving them some hope and from this humble beginning, they sought all the information and help they could to learn about budgeting and how to communicate about money without all the fights. Excited about the improvements in handling their money, they began the journey of getting out of debt, discovering the peace and contentment that came along with not being in bondage. In 1993 they discovered Larry Burkett and Christian Financial Concepts and got on a budget software system that they still use today. CFC is now Crown Financial Ministries, and they donated some of their time as Money Map Coaches serving the local community in giving people hope with their use of money. They have been leading Crown Financial Bible Studies for over 15 years, and God has led them to follow this passion and take it to a higher level. They have been through and personally led other financial courses, like Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. That was the springboard for Mike to becoming certified through Dave’s organization early in 2008.
Larkin Coaching was developed to come alongside people, especially married couples, and mentor them in life’s journey to get on a budget, take control of their finances, make an action plan to getting out of debt, saving for the future and investing resources as well as find a career that you are passionate about.
